Red Hot Chili Peppers <---quite possibley one of the best live bands in the world- fucking great show!  ROCK ON!
the Faint <---got "media" signed, todd was very impressed- great fucking show, and a great fucking crowd reaction.  i love this band so much it hurts.
Placebo <----still in Newcastle- a really good show, but no "nancy boy"!!  straaaaaange!
the Faint <---back in Glasgow again!  Todd tells me i have been the number one fan on the tour- cue me getting emotional, but best time ever live- lots of anti-war stuff yay!
Placebo <----best time i have ever seen them - maybe one of the best gigs i have ever been to.  Great audience, great stage and light show...just great band!
Madonna <---can you belieive it?  Ma-fuckin-donna!  It was amazing.  I was one metre away from the Queen of Pop herself, and it felt great.  She is a great performer and an enthralling artist.
the Kitchen <---I told them they copied the Start and they pretended they didnt know who they are!  Suckers.  But their music was good, and fun to dance to.  Got their setlist
the Bandits <---second time i saw them.  Very good ths time...absolutely rockin'...shame about neddish fans!
Hot Hot Heat <---what an amazing live act!  They completely rocked, and had great energy, and the crowd were soo enthusiastic!  One of the best live acts I've seen!
David R Black <---young uk grunge-lite act. really friendly.  er.thats it.
Anti-Product <---glam metal, anti american, heavy, CLOWN, alright, not my usaual cuppa, but good for free
RADIOHEAD <---in a tiny [for them] venue...really lucky, really, really great show, grea set, was mega close, took gorgeous pics.  Thom Yorke is the most surprisingly charismatic frontman.  Deffo, a must see band.
Biffy Clyro <---Scottish band- getting big.  Wasn't a fan before, but their acoustic instore appearance was surprisingly good!!
Cobra Killers <---Screaming girl fronted electroclash from Berlin.  Bad, but they'll be "cool" soon, i'm sure.  Jarvis Cocker was also in attendance!
Javine <---popstarz the rivals reject, but pretty good choon, and lots of dancin'
Appleton <---more bland pop/rock from ex-all saints...was alright...
Triple 8 <---the new 5ive? meh...they were shite, and theirs fans are so annoying.
the Darkness <---amazzzzzing...rock, and fireworks, and indulgent guitar solos....awesomeo! [n.b/this was written before everyone else liked them]
50 Cent <---U HERE FOR FIFTY MATE? I wasn't, but phwoar it was a good performance! [blazin' squad was der 4 fifty 2 man]
Sparta <---reaally good.  the singer [ex-at the drive in] was really nervous, but the songs were brilliant!
Queens of the Stone Age <---great set, amazzzzzzing live act, great venue, annoying and painful crowd, but great show, and met Josh Homme...!!!!
Erase Errata <--- more slightly screamy girl fronted electro-y punk-y stuff at coolest night club ever...Trash!  Kings of Leon also in attendance.
Biffy Clyro <----"intimate" T in the Park warm up gig.  Fans still annoying, but good set!
<T in the Park 2003>
Martin Grech <---Emo-rock singer songwritery guy.  thought he was good, but crowd full of neds unimpressed.
Skin [ex-Skunk Anansie] <---really lively and charistmatic.  New songs are great. amd she played "weak" too
Biffy Clyro <---moved up on to main stage and play triumphant set, and win over many new fans!
the Proclaimers <---Scotland's best anthem makers.  The most happy-making set of the weekend!
the Cardigans <---underwhelming set- new stuff is pretty dull, and played "hits" all at the end.  Great stage set up tho- chandeliers aplenty!
Idlewild <----time No.6 (!!)- not the best, but still very good.
Super Furry Animals <---crazy, fun, good music.  May just go see them again.
Flaming Lips <---White Stripes replacement- they dress up as them and cover some of their songs, and are the funniest band of the weekend.
Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster <---really great live performance, but most of songs a bit shit.  Some have *potential*
R.E.M. <---fabulouso headliners- really moving, down to earth, and great songs.
The Darkness <---biggest ever crowd for the opening act.  Could hardly see anything, but fun set.
Echo & the Bunnymen <---they played "killing moon" yeah yeah!  Not many in crowd, but Ian McCulloch looked great.
Sugababes <---yeah man!  They are fun, but Heidi is a bit of a slag, and they perform like it is Cabaret or something.
Kinesis <---rock on man!  Excellent set from bolton political punks.  Met them in signing tent later.
the Coral <---how funky are these tunes?????  Much dancing done during this fantastic set.
Supergrass <---my word!  they played "Alright" for the first time in 4 years. for US.  DUDE!  One of the best sets of the weekend.
Feeder <---really violent crowd, some good tunes [the old ones], but *had* to leave during Buck Rogers *cringeeeee*
OkGo <---fun fun fun!  Dude...and what a dance routine at the end.  Coulda killed some of those screaming girl fans though.
The Streets <---Mike Skinner is one of the funniest men alive.  the pikey we can all love!  And good set too- ghost town!
Lemon Jelly <---stayed for 15 minutes.  Was boring as.
Coldplay <---First bit of the set was really dull, because it was just album tracks, but when the anthems came out they were fantastic!  Great ending, in the eh...end!
</T in the Park 2003>
Rosie Thomas <---singer-songwriter with the most gorgeous voice.  she is so sweet.  Check her out.
Bright Eyes <---Mind-blowingly beautiful.  Conor is one of the most beautifully dysfunctional lyricists ever.
Kealer  <---a bit like Gavin Rossdale wannabe fronting an obscure Travis.  Ok, but a little samish.
Easyworld <--acoustic set, loveliness, FREE, sitting down...just really nice!
Skin <---amazing...her chest in my face, her hands in claire's hair...she is one of the best front people ever.  LOVE.
X-Tigers <---the bastard child of green day, placebo, and some heavier band!  REALLY GOOD.
Stellastarr* <---new-wavey, plucky, sexy folk!  Beautiful music.
Ash <---wow.  all the songs you want to hear, and more!  Played 4 fantastic new songs!
<Reading Festival 2003>
Day1
InMe <---one of the worst bands ever.  We make funny banners and heckle them!
Young Heart Attacks <---bluesy, rocky, - real headbangers.
Saves the Day <---boring american punk poppers- a few good tunes, but for the most part, dull.
OkGo <---Loads of fun, but they didn't do the KraZy choreographed dance they did at T.
Alien Ant Farm  <---MoShTaStIc!  They were really fun to watch, and they did a cover of Sade's "Smooth Operator" as well as MJ cover!
Staind <---TRIPE!  Only watched them because I was waiting for Carly + Andy + co!  Equipment blew up, so they had to do it acoustic!
The Darkness  <---not so funny, an ok set, the jokes were the same as at T.
Placebo  <---top form set- they played mainly "greatest hits" type stuff, but they seemed to be on a wave!
Blink 182  <---whatta great live act!!  Staying alive in the crowd was a challenge, but worth every minute!
Linkin Park <---fairly good.  I was too cold and ill to get into them, though.

Day 2
the Agenda <---more headbangin', bum shakin, loish-fi NME brand nu rock!
Stellastarr* <---even better this time.  Quite a lot of crowd seemed to know them.  I have to buy something by them!
Junior Senior  <---more danse danse dansin' - they were loads of fun live!  junior was quite shy :(
Libertines <---faaaaaantastic!!  No Pete, but still an energetic and enthralling set.
the Streets <---technical problems at the beginning, very good and dancey, but not as good as at T.  It's those English folk, innit!
The Kills <---wow!  They were really good- i didnt know anything but "Cat Claw" but it was so good!
The Thrills <---Packed to the rafters, nice, but not particularly exciting or interesting.
Beck <---WOWOW.  One of the best acts of the weekend.  Medley of TaTu, Beyonce, Justin, and Nelly is always gonna be a winner!!
The Spooks <--the old "new fugees"!  Good to dance to, and their songs are actually pretty damn good!
Blur <---slightly disappointing in that they missed a lot of the classics and played a lot off "Think Tank", but "the Universal" made up for everything- pure perfection.  Overall pretty good, but more of the old, thanks.

Day 3
the Applicators <---What happened when Tuuli tried to emulate the Distillers and the Donnas to a certain degree of success.
Kinesis <---really good, lively, set, but they thought it was not up to their usual standards.  Played a couple of new songs too!
Serafin <---cute frontman, pretty damn good music, and free beer.  Can you ask for anymore?
the Raveonettes <---fashionistas, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs appear in wings to watch the fantastic band.  They played a gorgeous set.
Radio4 <---celebs still intact in the wings, HARMAR joins the band on drums for Dance to the Underground, and it is one big dance-punk party!! HOORAH!
Primal Scream <---watched whilst eating jerk chicken.  yum yum.  The Xtrmntr stuff was fantastic, and Bobby Gillespie called the crowd "slaves". ha.
Hell is for Heroes <---ahh, a crowd where I can stand at the back, and see over all the people.  they were ok, but their music isn't my thing.
Hot Hot Heat  <---managed to get back to the front after my lunch.  Good, but not as amazing as they were in May.
Grandaddy  <---a bit spacey, maybe too long a set, i was tired, but still really good.  AND AWW A CAT.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs <---best band of the weekend, no contest.  Karen O is absolutely fascinating to watch.  The whole of the sides of the stage packed with celebs [HarMAR included, yo.]
British Sea Power <---really really really good too!  didn't know anything by them before, but very impressed!  AND FREE BSP KENDAL MINT CAKE!
</reading>
The Day I Snapped <---punk-rawk frae glasgae. too loud, but alright.
Pretty Girls Make Graves <---really good.  lots of energy, and good tunes.
the Blood Brothers <---really great live act.  What moves, what trousers!  what scremaing!!
Mankato <---electro rockdance- all backing music pretty much except guitar and vox.  cute guy, but the girl was a bit too robo-femme.
Peaches <---woaaah! amazing.  she is truely the queen of electroclash!  Didn't play set it off, but FTPA was phenomenal, and i sung into her mic and everything!
Dido <--- nice voice, but the songs lacked substance, and i couldnt see much
Seachange <---front man was nice, music a bit like REM...not bad!
Guided by Voices <---2+ hours set!  Really funny, the singer was really charismatic and FREE BEER for the crowd.  Not bad for a bunch of pensioners :p
Kait0 <--- scramy girl vox punk.  think le tigre and yeah yeah yeahs.  Quite good live.
Relaxed Muscle <---don't believe the hype.  They were ok, but not amazing.  Jarvis Cocker is funny if anything.  Good ol' dance buddy.
Fiery Furnaces <---ok, i guess. lame lyrics, but musically ok.  singer looked like freddy mercury/suzi quatro
Franz Ferdinand <---impecably dressed, great sound, great songs.  WELL FIT.
Hot Hot Heat <---best time i've seen them. loads of cool lights, good set, loads of energy, and really good sound.  DANTE IS FIT AS.
nic armstrong <---a british kings of leon, loads of feet stomping, and high worn guitars.
razorlight <---fantastic live act. singer was wearing white boxing boots. sounded a cross between cure/strokes/hothotheat/darkness/nodoubt [basslines]. recommended!
Raveonettes <--- suni was ill, so sharin had to do all the singing...they pulled it off with finesse, glamour, and rock and roll.  these guys are so sleazysexy live.
Jane's Addiction <---amazing set!  what a great band.  dave navarro is a fantastic guitarist, just as perry farrell is still a great frontman!
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club <---really solid performance.  lot's of good songs...knew more than i thought i did.
Chemical Brothers ft Wayne Coyne <--- broadcast live over Europe for MTV awards.  Wayne is so cool.  He waved at us!!
Chicks on Speed <---Really fun set, loads of luminous colours, though some of their red make-up got on my jacket!  Didn't play "for all the boys in the world".. :(
Five Knuckle <---local punkxhardxcore band on householdname records.  ok live act, but didnt "dig" the sound.
the Distillers <---fairly good live, although a little lacklustre, and VERY short set.  How punk, i guess.  Fans are most unwashed, ever.
Dandy Warhols <---short, but good set from sleaze masters, the Dandy's.  Danced with them afterwards.woopwoop.
Kasabian <---british electro-rock act.  Hyped by NME, fairly justified, i'd have to say!  Really good.
Raveonettes <---best time ever.  They gave it their all, and were on absolute top form.  Wierd Sharin/sune "kissing" thing at the end.
Cooper Temple Clause <---amazing set, great energy, total cool.  Was in the photo pit for the first 3 songs, yeah yeah yeah!
22s <---new york city girl punk band. one gangly grrrl guitarist is a bit lame, but the rest are cool.
The Ordinary Boys <---latest NME hype, not quite deservedly, but a solid and catchy band nonetheless.
Stellastarr* <---great performance. really hammed up and with lots of energy. best time i've seen them.
HappyLife <---one of the worst bands ever. these past-it failures play a dire array of lame cock-pop-punk, with an uber annoying frontman who seems to think he is "da bomb". wank.
Blondie <---on top form, with a good 2 hour set, playing a mixture of classics, and material off the new album.  Deborah is still an icon, but there are some cringey moments where is just your embarresing aunt.
Martin Grech <---the sound is bad, the guitar is too heavy, and the tunes just don't *happen* in the new material.
Elbow <---a good band, but their sound is not made for arenas, and for a muse support slot.
Muse <---on the contrary pull off the arena tour with finesse.  Their grandiose sound and stageshow needs an arena to do itself justice, which is exactly what was done tonight.
Mark Ronson <---US freestyle rap champion raps over other peoples songs, and uh...that would be it.
Dizzee Rascal <---wassat? Auf englisch, bitte?  The man needs a simultaneous translator, but that aside he is a good performer, with a good set of choons.
Justin Timberlake <---fireworks, cranes, fireman's poles, an 8 piece band, 6 backing vocalists, 3 costume changes, JT dancing on a piano...what more could you want?
Ambulance <---another NY band...this one could be the new interpol...a lot of instrumental and beautful guitar music.  watch out for them next year, apparently.
Razorlight <---another good performance, though the second time one sees them, their slight one dimensionality shows through more.
Suede <---absolutely amazing. even with the whole are we/aren't we splitting melarky, they put on a triumphant hits and rarities set, ending on "still life". cue: loads of crying people.

2004

Franz Ferdinand <---great impromptu and oh-so-scene rough trade gig.
Franz Ferdinand <---FOPP, less fun, but got to meet them, chat about Marchmont, Edinburgh, Scotland, craziness.
Blanche <---really moody and sexy country-ish music.  really good too.
White Stripes <---Amazing. all the songs you want to hear, roadies wearing suits and bowler hats, loads of energy, and meg singing!
Delays <---wow.whatanicevoice. our tickets numbers 1+2 get signed, chat to them.  aaron is a tad annoying.
[support band] <---wanky blues-rock, long long indulgent solos.  they were at the wrong gig, i reckon.
Delays <---second time in the day, really triumphant, great atmosphere, really mindblowing!
Razorlight <---another roughtrade event, jonny burrel is a fantastic and fascinating frontman.  really really great songwriting.voice.everything too.
Scissor Sisters <---fun, sleaze, sex, filth, cabaret, could be a little passe very soon,  but fun while it lasts.
Keane <---"secret gig", the singer has a GORGEOUS voice, the two fitter members of the band were at UCL.  represent.
Kasabian <---they are never going to be as good as the Faint.
Cooper Temple Clause <---really good.  they were better than last time.  uh...loads of fans.  i dont like their fans.  they are just oasis fans with better hair.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club <---so so so good. started off with a 3-song acoustic set, and THEN.  the noise.  I was not a huge fan previously, but wow were they good.
the Duke Spirit <---apparently like PJ Harvey.  I thought they were really good eitherway.
the Delays <---really early set for a band that is getting more popular by the second.  They did well, although the audience wasn't too receptive.
Har Mar Superstar <---what a man!!  he is such a fun and lively performer.  i rubbed his sweaty nipple.  there is just something inexplicably amiable and endearing about him.
the Raveonettes <---fucking great performance. Sharin and Sune should take over the world.  This band are just amazing beyond words.  Icy beauty, gorgeous voices, and great songs.
Eagles of Death Metal <--- featuring Josh Homme of QOTSA, really good kinda comedy rock.  but not the darkness.  i was informed by some little distillers shit next to me that josh and brosy are having sex, like WOAH.
Pretty Girls Make Graves <---really good.  the sound was so much better than last time, and Andrea Zollo is the worlds coolest midget frontwoman.
Peaches <---she is undeniable.  she has the ability to make any crowd warm to her, even if they are 14 year old faux-punk mini-moshers.  she didn't play fuck the pain away, which is a real shame.
the Distillers <---so much better. it always pays to, like, connect with the crowd.  i enjoyed myself this time, and standing towards the back is a helluva lot safer!
Sufjan Stevens <---beautiful voice, lovely banjo playing, and no PA system.  the man is a winner.
the Duke Spirit <---even better tonight, loads of attitude and energy.  The band are gonna be big.
the Vines <---only 4 songs off the 1st album, parody like craig nichols.  it is clear that this band peaked a while ago.
Blue <---live at cd:uk.  the song was a bit dire, but they seem really nice guys.
Sugababes <---all in a bad mood until the cameras were on, and it was fake smiles all the way.  yay.
Black Eyed Peas <---really great energy.  not my usual thing, but definetly a good live band.
the Raveonettes <---the last ever band to play Camden palace.  they perform brilliantly despite a crap crowd, and then there is the aftershow...
the Black Velvets <--- really rather generic rock with a blues twist.  loads of bad greasy coopers-esque hair.
the Killers <---interpol and the faint having sex.  really good.
Stellastarr* <---really energetic and blinding gig.  so great seeing so many people getting off on their music.  about time really.
the Black Velvets <---ok shuttup already.
the Killers <---best time yet.  They really took control of the venue.  Almost as good as Stellastarr*
Stellastarr* <---really really good.  The crowd was fantastic, and the show was FULL ON.
the Killers <---Brandon was a little ill, and the crowd was rather anal and couldn't dance.  BUT THEY WERE STILL GOOD.
Stellastarr* <---it's getting a bit monotonous saying that they are really good, but they really really are.
the Black Velvets <---arse.  back on the tour again.  still awful cockrock wank.
the Killers <---i think the best of all the shows, it was intense, and er..on top.  yum.
Stellastarr* <---sadly the last night of the tour, and probably one of the best.  It was pretty triumphant, but really sad that the whole adventure was over.  they are the nicest band ever.
Tat <---the most awful band ever. i want them to get big so that everyone can see how shit they are.  Fronted by Tatiana DeMaria, they are sub-avril, psuedo-punk-rock, wank.  She is so for real that she asks everyone to stick their middle-fingers up, they have a song called "fuck you", she swears a lot, she even fuckin' plays guitar!
Incoherence <---they wish they were the blood brothers.  but they're not.   oh yeah, 'cause they probably don't know who they are. they're like a substandard funeral for a friend [double-negative much?].
theStart <---the only good band on an awful bill [didnt stay for rufio], and they were so good.  The Start deserved to be adored by the millions.  Aimee is the most amazing intense frontwoman you can imagine, and the songs are delivered amazingly by the supertight band.
Kait0 <---a great performance from the soutcoast act.  much increased stage confidence from their 2003 slot at trash.  with their album released, they look set to go places!
Erase Errata <---Also seen previously at trash, although I really was too drunk to remember them then.  They look like they escaped from sort of 'clinic', and their set was veering on indulgent.  but it was ok.
Le Tigre <---absolutely undeniable.  knowing and powerful.  the only criticism was that it was too short...but then again, anything would have been.
The Entrance <---eccentric, stoned singer songwriter bluesy stuff.  rather good.
The Locust <--- grindxcore, i'm told.  i thought they were screamo.  they weren't very nice musically, but their performance was full of...erm...energy?
Yeah Yeah Yeahs <---insanely good. boundless energy. great sound. great crowd. great venue.  this could only have been better if they'd played 'miles away'.
The Entrance <---same as before.  still really good.
the Locust <---becoming more tolerable.  and they had new costumes.  but i still wouldn't buy anything by them ever.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - probably the best time I've seen them.  The absolute perfect setlist, and a really great/enthusiastic crowd.  it Is good to be back in London.  Come back again, soon.
The Entrance <---this guy makes genuinely beautiful music, still. You can't help but think that he is better suited to smaller venues, but it is still good.
the Locust <---the friday night drunken crowd gives them a pretty hard time and there is a 5 minute stand-off between the band and the crowd.  they hate us.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs <--- shorter set and the band seem slightly tired, but a good show nonetheless.  karen throws marshmallows to the crowd at the beginning of the encore, which is nice.
Goldfrapp <--- a short but sweet PA. with naked, large breasted, exotic danser.  Hooray?
The Veils <--- they were good.  i can't remember much, but they were good.
Delays <---not as good as 100 club, better than the last time at the Astoria.  It's nice to see them getting so much success.
Ulrich Schnauss <---cinematic german electro.  interesting, but a little boring if you want to dance!
PJ Harvey <--- I'm so lucky to have seen her in such a small venue. She was so amazing it's unreal.  Just an amazing amazing performance.
New Rhodes <---a really exciting new band from Bristol.  Hotly tipped and understandably so.  They have some Franz-y elements and they are nice and young and fit.
Razorlight <---a slightly below-par performance, probably due to bad sound.  Still quite good, but have seen them better.
the Departure <---20th ever gig and it's at the Mean Fiddler, in a support slot admittedly.  Very promising, fresh, punk/funk stuff, akin to radio 4 with a bit of interpol with british accents.
Surferosa <---really quite dire.  I'm sure it's supposed to be funny or ironic, but the lead singer's boundless energy and gwen/karen copying grates after one song.
the Killers <---Triumphant headline set at the Mean Fiddler. Fairly short, but good variety of album tracks and B-sides.  Great to see them come so far in such a short time.
the Departure <---a more assured and confident performance, clearly showing a band on the verge of something big.
Surferosa <---actually tolerable, although still pretty awful.  she didn't knock my glasses off this time.
the Killers <---also much better, probably due to an older crowd not screaming like teeny boppers for the whole set.  Probably the best time yet.
the Killers <---HMV instore, the end of the affair.
Neil's Children <---Dark young punk upstarts - political and fiery.  watch out.
The Whyte Seeds <---boring, cowboy, cockrocking.
Razorlight <---definitive career changing set.  Seriously.  Full of raw energy and emotion.
Phoenix <---trippy and poppy summer sounds.
Air <---perfect setting (castle, austria, summer evening, sun setting, picnic), beautiful, soothing and wonderful sounds.  Amazing.
The Departure <---perhaps the last chance to see the British Radio 4 in a small venue?  Packed to the rafters with industry types and zeitgeist spotters, but the Departure did not disappoint.
Sleeping States <---wonderfully haunting lo-fi music
Har Mar Superstar <---sexy, very sexy. how is it that the short, falt, balding hairy man can make anybody kiss him?
The Prosaics <---beautifully sad, manhattan musical landscapes. think interpol, but with a little bit of radio 4.
The Infadels <---london punk-funk outfit. i had heard good things about them, but they were unfortunately the A of punkfunk. British, old, embarressing, not that good.
Radio 4 <---electric, undeniable...the best rock that you can dance to. radio 4 make all the indie boys dance
The Beat <---forgettable garage rock. sorry.
Bloc Party <---angular, energetic new cross goodness. really excellent live, not just hyped up nme fodder!
Razorlight <---now really hitting the big time, but still keeping up the energy from previous smaller live shows. however, the crowd is getting younger and rowdier and it probably won't ever be the same again.
Madonna <---she still has it, although the most exciting moments were admittedly the classics, and definitely not her ill-advised cover of "imagine". "nothing fails", however, almost brought a tear to my eye.
Soulwax <---a short, fairly uninspired set. 3 songs off the best album, the rest off the new one. disapointing considering the strength of them in 2001
Seachange <---a year on from the last time I saw them and still doing the support slot. they are still good and it is hard to understand why they aren't huge!
Pretty Girls Make Graves <---down-to-earth, yet unwordly in terms of goodness - energetic, honest, heartfelt and really enjoying what they do- this is what we like to see.
2manyDjs <---slightly disappointing set from the pioneers of the bootleg/mashup party.
The Breakers <---The new BBmak. Say no thank you. Dire.
The Departure <---More songs and more charisma. The crowds are still not left hugely impressed by the Northhampton hopes.
Razorlight <---Another assured, yet deeply involved genuine performance. They work the young HMV crowd magically.
The Doubles <---Electronic, trippy, not hugely attractive - it shouldn't work, but it does. So so well. Worth investigating.
Interpol <---Mindblowingly majestic and moving set, featuring songs from both albums. The Antic tracks receive almost as rapturious a response as classics like NYC, Stella and Obstacle 1.
Spektrum <---appearing live at Optimo, sordidly electro, sleazy, but altogether danceable.
The Dears <---innovative and interesting prog/lo-fi/dreamy shoe-gazing music from Montreal 6-piece. Won't even mention support!
Pink Grease <---Like an electro darkness. And as bad as that looks on paper.
The Rocks <---Energetic, emotional, punk even...New Cross hopefuls deliver the goods live despite having a very bad week, apparently.
The Boxer Rebellion <---very promising, although bad sound at the venue affected the crowd's appreciation on the performance.
Fans of Kate <---Good live performance from promising new London act. One member works in Rokit, Covent Garden, dontchaknow!
Culture Industry <---dark, somewhat grungey London outfit - interesting.
Tom Vek <---innovative, exciting, precocious and enthralling amazingly talented songwriter/singer/instrumentalist Tom Vek and band play a fantastic set.
New Rhodes <---London based Bristolians play an energetic set and deliver the goods in a conventional sort of way.
The Drama <---Hardcore and slightly goffik. Good live, but only if you like that sort of thing (I don't).
Sunshine <---high energy, great live show, sometimes interpol-esque, sometimes veering into Placebo territory, but all the the time preferable to the previous band. Plus they gave out free cds!
the Faint <---Amazing! Amazing amazing amazing. A huge long set, still the same great dance moves, still playing some of the best old songs, the new songs work brilliantly live - altogether fantastic.
Shelly McErlaine <---Formerly the dark haired one out of Alisha's Attic, now the other blonde one, Shelly played a wonderful but short set of joni mitchell-esque quirky solo songs...lovely.
Carmen Reese <---crimped hair and a voice that could be alicia keyes. omg she is going to be HUGE and i've already been rude to her.
Sleeping States <---Lovely lo-fi experimental singer songwritery stuff from Markland and Craig.
the Dogs <---A bit cock rock and apparently like the Jam, but I enjoyed them quite a bit.
Duke Spirit <---3rd time I've seen them support someone else - they are good but their sound isn't the catchiest for a support slot, which is a shame really.
Razorlight <---A fairly bad show. It feels like the same old same old, the same "ad lib", the same "banter", except the crowds are getting younger and more irresponsable. I feel like an old fart.
Riff Random <---Grimey, dirty, but fresh garage rock. Hooray! They are also quite fit.
Mystery Jets <---Progressive and incredibly interesting band. The freshest music you will hear this year and possibly next. Strange instruments, strange time signatures, a mix of ages, a boy in clutches and a free newspaper.
Bloc Party <---Really really great, energetic, heartfelt, genuine, party party party. Shame about the touts who spoilt the fun for a bit.
Razorlight <---Much better than at Brixton academy, my 9th and last time seeing them. I watched them from the balcony - felt glad that I was not in pit, but sad that our relationship was over.
Le Tigre <---Wonderful. Enjoying what they do more than ever before - triumphant and celebratory. The new album is brilliant.
Clor <---Bad. Try-hardy, too loud, whatever.
the Departure <---Performance has come on along far since the first time we saw them, they are on the verge of something, but something niggling tells me that they are missing something crucial.
Apartment <---Swaggering post-rock brilliance.
Great Days of Sail <---Soaring, sparkly, folky americana(?) with gorgeous vocals.
Patrick Wolf <---absolutely wonderful, painstakingly talented, beautiful voice, great lyrics...possibly the most talented and interesting musician of a generation.
the Bravery <---current NME wank material and utterly try-hard trite and dull wank wank whatever.
the Duke Spirit <---4th time see them support someone else. They are still not really suited to support slots- they are not interesting to the masses and probably never will be. It's a shame because they are good.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs <---a really great setlist, but the cavernous Brixton Academy is just too big and impersonal for the mighty YYYs. The sound wasn't good, but they still played well.
The Unicorns <---Lovely, trippy-yet-punchy NY happenings. Highly recommended.
Selfish Cunt <---Captivating, beautiful, striking...talented cunt.
Blood Brothers <---they make such invigorating and complex music and write such interesting lyrics, but it'd be lovely to hear them sing.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs <---No barrier, no holds barred, a set conprised mainly of new songs, a crowd that was absolutely wild for no apparent reason - mixed.
Simon Joyner <---great nebraskan singer-songwriter.
Conor Oberst <---see above, multiply by a thousand.
Conor Oberst <---see above, set in highgate, only 100 other people. Heartbreaking genius.
Bloc Party <---Brilliant. Top form, top sound, the new songs sound as good as the familiar old ones. Bring on Silent Alarm.
Interpol <---great light show, great sound, well instrumented. Interpol aren't about the performances really, but they still put on a good show.
Wolfpack <---interesting, loud, really good to dance to. err..
Eastern Lane <---still undecided - some moments are great, but some I just don't understand obviously and come across as embarassing.
Sons and Daughters <---absolutely great. fesity, full of attitude and great musicians. Sons and Daughters are a reason to be exicted.
Beep Beep <---enjoyable, energetic saddle-creek goodness. Crowd reaction was lukewarm, but a good show nonetheless.
the Faint <---same set of songs played as last time and the venue was nowhere near sold out, but they give such an assured, sexy and manic performance that it doesn't seem to matter.
Patrick Wolf <---a beautiful but short acoustic set. He played a lot of material off the forthcoming album "Wind in the Wires", which will probably be more amazing than "Lycanthropy". WOW.
The Chaps <---funny, very english, dowdy, electro pop.
The Fallout Trust <---interesting, art rock.
Tom Vek <---energetic, eclectic and great to dance to. Tom Cek does not disappoint second time around.
Kano <---electro, London hip-hop. Bags of attitude and very innovative.
Bloc Party <---Coming of age show, full of energy, full of appreciate and full of the good humour which makes Bloc Party so endearing.
Secret Machines <---epic.
Interpol <---best time so far, the sound is huge and the presence awesome.
Aberfeldy <---lovely Scottish folky indie pop. The new Belle and Sebastian, apparently.
Sons and Daughters <---saucy, feisty and even better on home territory.S ons and Daughters win over a crowd full of old people.

2005
the Departure <---Starting intimate on their first show of the year they hope to take over.
Editors <---the new Interpol or the new Coldplay? You decide. But Edtiros proved they were a great live band at their Water Rats' gig.
Volunteer <---Three piece from oop north, some nice feedback and some good tunes.
Patrick Wolf <---Semi-secret acoustic show. Beautiful songs, beautiful Patrick Wolf.
New Found Glory <---Snotty, bratty nu-punk.
Green Day <---Wonderful crowd=pleasing greatest hits set. Great stage show, great fun, Green Day still impress live. And James from Busted was sitting next to me!
the Research <---Twee and quirky wakefield three piece. This is casio love.
Maximo Park <---Geordie dirty dancable rock. Good, but not hugely grabbing.
Reese <---Stripped back acousitc Scottish folk, with lovely female vocals.
Idlewild <---Gorgeous, sweeping, folky acoustic full-length gig. Great to have them back.
Fierce Girl <---Rubbish, non-ironic, gay-chav-electro-pop.
Miss Pain <---Frankly brilliant Brighton electro-pop.
Buffalo <---Bonnie Tyler, but a bunch of pubescent Cambridge kids.
The Caves <---stodgy jet-esque cock-indie.
Semi-finalists <---Interesting and enigmatic bunch of weirdos.
the Chap <---Now more confident and with a much bigger sound, the Chap are onto something with their quirky-cum-dowdy fuzzpop.
Tom Vek <---Artschool boywonder gets better and better. This is the best time I've seen him so far./DIV>
Yo Zushi <---Beautiful, tender, delicate singer-songwriter/frontman of Great Days of Sail. .
Patrick Wolf <---A real turning point in Patrick Wolf's beautiful career. A whole venue packed to the rafters of adoring fans, a great passionfelt and grand set and finally the appreciation he deserves.
Willy Mason <---Pleasent but on the whole really quite bland. He does not live up to the promise of the new Bright Eyes, but is passable.
the Bravery <---the Bravery are nothing special. Nothing special at all.
Sons and Daughters <---Set comprised almost exclusively of new songs, lots of energy and passion, but the crowd really did not deserve it.
Hope of the States <---Epic and powerful, experimental and anthemic. A great first time for me seeing HOTS.
Battle <---Really quite dancable and fun indie pop with an edge.
Neal's Children <---Raw edged punk from the loud London three-piece. They are really really great.
Bloc Party <---Absolutely brilliant set and at the Barfly nonetheless. It was magical to have one last taste of intimate and sweaty Bloc Party before they go on to take over the world.
Hard-Fi <---Rubbish polished boyband rock-pop. From Staines. Oh dear.
Tom Vek <---Short but funked-up set from Tom and the gang.
the Departure <---Play well to such a big venue, but the stage banter is a tad lame. They are on top form and their path of domination is inevitable, maybe.
Graham Coxon <---Eccentric, but very very competent. Graham is clearly better off without Blur.
Girls Aloud <---Fantasticly trashy icons of all things poptastic and proletariat. It was beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
Shellie McErlaine <---Lovely, but short, acoustic set - crystal clear pure vocals and light strummy guitar.
Battle <---Energetic and frantic, Battle have a lot of potential.
Chromeo <---Somewhere between the Faint and Har Mar Superstar, Chromeo play sleazy, funny electro and wear silly costumes. Yay!.
Bloc Party <---A good set, but it just doesn't feel the same anymore (no fault of the band's) when the crowds are so big.
Rufus Wainwright <---Rufus is very fit and talented and funny.
Idlewild <---My 8th time and it's nice to hear them electric again. The new material could be their best yet!
Art Brut <---Brilliant, funny, banal and heartfelt.
Sons and Daughters <---The best time so far, confident, attitude filled and the new songs have so much going for them. We even meet them afterwards!
Tom Vek <---TV isn't the kind of band you should see too often, because very little changes from gig to gig.
Le Tigre <---Their jetlag is clear, but what can beat seeing Le Tigre in the Barfly and finishing a great night on Deceptacon?
Mystery Jets <---Just as fresh, exciting and interesting as they were in Bloctober.
G4 <---How did this embarassing drivel sell a quarter of a million copies in a week? This is the worst imaginable shit ever.
Basement Jaxx <---Brilliant, brilliant dance music. Basement Jaxx are still creating undeniable and original tunes 7 years on. BO!
Jem <---Blah blah blah drippy drippy blah..
Lemar <---Actually alright ballad.
Gwen Stefani & Eve <---A true music icon, Gwen Stefani commands attention like no other but is down-to-earth at the same time. Amazing, beautiful, bets pop album ever, etc.
Beck <---A fairly rubbish song by Beck's standards but he is still a very good performer.
Boxer Rebellion <---I really don't understand what there is to like about them.
Nic Armstrong <---Same applies here.
Editors <---As urgent and exciting as the first time, but with more confidence now. Their new single looks set to be an XFMMTV2 hit!
the Raveonettes <---A welcome return to the live arena, the Raveonettes impress with their stunning new songs and a re-shuffled line-up.
Rilo Kiley <---Lovely alt-country, and really warming stage presence.
Bright Eyes <---The best time ever, the full-band give the songs a whole other lease of life
Dogs <---Sub-Razorlight blah.
the Raveonettes <---Much better than at the Marquee, with songs old and new and a much more appreciative crowd.
Shelly McErlaine <---Her first full-band set, warm cellos, and soft guitars become the tunes greatly.
Test-icicles <---Odd London-based hardcore band. A problematic set with technical difficulties and a fainted bassist..uh oh.
Be your own PET <---Their first public UK appearance, enthralling, energetic, so fresh and new. Believe the hype, believe in BYOP.
the Molotovs <---Nice, inoffensive indie-pop-rock.
Ciccone <---Some really good songs, but most of it seemed a bit...flat?
Crash Convention <---Young, fresh, and fugly.
Uncle Whitelock <---Glaswegian noisefest.
Sons and Daughters <---Intense as ever, sons and Daughters do not disappoint for their first hometown show of the year
Emiliana Torrini <---Beautiful icelandic folk music.
Sons and Daughters <---The sound isn't great and the crowd are totally unresponsive, but S&Ds still put on a great show.
Idlewild <---My first time seeing them doing a full set in 3 years and it still feels just as good, although there really was no need for the 8 minute "jam".
The Legend <---Everett True's cynical but lovely spoken word project.
the Pipettes <---Perfect 60s style girlgroup pop action.
Sleater-Kinney <---Portland legends deliver a great set from their forthcoming album "The Woods", full of energy, charisma and intensity.
the Coral <---Nice summery tunes, but a bit bizarre seeing them on CD:UK.
Black Eyed Peas <---There is something really positive and fun about BEP that endears me to them.
Gwen Stefani <---Truly a superstar by now, she is totally iconic, but at the same time down to earth. She grabs my shirt and is like "You made this? That's rad!". Bliss.
Kelly Osbourne <---Mimed terribly, a really likeable tune, but it's so hard to rake seriously.
the Pipettes <---More Pipettes action, and it's good to know that their other amazingly fun performance was by no means a one-off.
Blood Red Shoes <---drama, intensity, call and resposne and screaming...really good.
Sons and Daughters <---Finally Sons and Daughters get the kind of response they deserve in a London crowd full of indie celebs, the more times I see them live, the more excited I am about their forthcoming album.
JJ72 <---the least cool crowd ever, comprised entirely of people stuck in 2000 doom, however, JJ72 do not disappoint with a hit-laden comeback set.
